(it rained for 3 days when I needed to cut so it was extra long this time). The only suggestion I’m not following is the 1″ maximum per cut. The blades are sharp, the motor runs great, I’m not running the self propel very fast and I’m still missing blades. And it still left uncut blades running that fast. I tried moving the governor spring to the second hole but the rpm jumped to 3450 and only dropped to 3390 while mowing so I put it right back. The manual says 2950~3100 rpm and my mower settled in to idle at 2940. So I bought a tachometer off Amazon and watched several videos on YouTube about Honda RPM issues. I am including a link to the dealer locator if needed.” If the engine is running at to low of an rpm, then the cut quality will suffer. If you are still seeing uncut patches of grass, we would suggest having your local authorized Honda dealer inspect your mower to make sure that it is operating correctly. For best results it is suggested to cut off less than one inch of grass each mowing. If you are cutting to much off the top, especially if mulching, then the grass is packing under the deck and not being cut up which in turn will leave uncut patches especially on the right hand side of the deck. If you are seeing areas/patches that are being missed while cutting, the first thing to check is the amount of grass being cut. “Thank you for your email in regards to your mower. I started overlapping my passes more and more but didn’t solve the issue so I emailed Honda. After reinstalling the blades (I checked that they were installed correctly) the cut was MUCH better but I noticed a blade here and there and sometimes a strip of grass a few feet long and 2 or 4 inches wide that was only partially cut. There was a 1/32″ flat where the cutting edge should have been so I got out my 14″ super cut file and sweated off at least 2 beers getting all 4 cutting edges sharp. I’ve never bagged and don’t want to.įirst mow with the Honda set to the mulch setting was terrible so I pulled the blades and they were dull as heck. I’ve been using the same yard man 20″ mulching mower for 20 years and never had an issue with missing blades of grass. I live in Zone 6B and have a tall fescue lawn that I typically cut at 3 to 3 1/2″ with a mulching mower. Needless to say after waiting several years and saving/spending nearly 400 I’m not happy. I was actually laughing at how the good it turned out.My new Honda mower is missing blades of grass and I don’t know how to fix it. I plan to add more sand as it fills the air voids.Īfter that you hook the eye bolts onto the clips and away you go!Īs I cut, I went over it twice. I filled the pvc with sand, I want it to be heavier, as explained above I hope it flattens the bumps in my lawn.2 clips (not sure what these are called, someone please correct me) - depending on your lawn mower, if you remove the back flap (someone please correct this term) they hook right into it.2 lock nuts (I adjusted the lock nuts to give the proper amount of play/slack in the eye bolt).4 washers, 2 per each eye bolt (1 inside the pipe, 1 outside the pipe).(I grabbed longer ones so it has more slack/play as you turn and so the pvc wasn't up against the back of the mower) 2 - 4 inch end caps (not glued - 1 - I didn't think it was necessary to glue and 2 - I want to be able to open it up.I chose 4 inch PVC as opposed to the 3 inch that was suggested, I'm hoping the extra weight flattens out the bumps in my lawn.I went 1 inch beyond each wheel to get rid of my wheel marks as I cut. 4 inch PVC cut to 24 inches (width of my lawn mower from outside of wheel to outside of wheel + 1 inch on either side.New Hampshire - The University of New Hampshire Nebraska - University of Nebraska-Lincoln ^ Add your zone to your flair under Community Options! ^įind the university of your state/region: The more photos or context to the situation will help us identify the problem and propose some solutions.
